Offerings for Srila Prabhupāda’s Vyāsa-pūjā 2018
Vyāsa-pūjā is an annual offering of special pūjā, or honour, to the spiritual teacher, who represents Kṛṣṇa Himself as well as Srila Vyasādeva, the editor of the Vedas and Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s literary incarnation. Kṛṣṇa recommends that everyone who searches for God first seek out God’s representative and respectfully accept his guidance.
ISKCON members consider Srila Prabhupāda to be their spiritual guide. To give members serving ISKCON Africa the opportunity to show their gratitude toward Srila Prabhupāda and honour him, BBT Africa yearly publishes a Vyāsa-pūjā book, a collection of their homages to Srila Prabhupāda.
WHO CAN SEND AN OFFERING?
Everyone is encouraged to write an offering. If we all reflect a little, we will to a smaller or larger degree appreciate Srila Prabhupāda’s positive contribution in our lives. This is an excellent opportunity for all of us to express our gratitude for that. In case you write and send an offering on behalf of a temple, centre, or project, please make sure the offering has the approval of all those whom you represent.
Deadline for submission of offerings: 24 June 2018.
Unfortunately, after that deadline, no offerings will be accepted. Better an early offering than last-minute panic.
Please submit your offering at www.prabhupada.co.za (under “Compose”).
After you’ve submitted your offering by clicking on “Send Offering,” you should see a confirmation message.
Please write your offering in English and make it no longer than 1,000 words. (Conciseness is a virtue. Shorter offerings are fine.) And please do not “recycle” an offering; we will not accept offerings from previous years.
The book is meant for glorifying Srila Prabhupāda. And we encourage you to do that in your own way. Certain kinds of content, however, we ask that you kindly avoid:
- Venting grievances
Please reserve that for some other place.
- Taking stands on internal philosophical controversies
Let the jīva fall or not fall in some other book.
- Promoting institutions other than the ones Srila Prabhupāda founded and other contemporary spiritual guides.
We respect that you may have received spiritual knowledge or inspiration from contemporary spiritual guides other than Srila Prabhupāda and the members of the Society he founded. But we ask that you express your gratitude to them elsewhere. Similarly, we respect that they too may have their own relationship with Srila Prabhupāda, but we ask that you refrain from highlighting that relationship as part of your offering.
- Criticizing devotees of the Lord.
- Exploring Srila Prabhupāda’s personal rasa with Krishna.
BBT Africa reserves the right to exclude any offering that to us seems inappropriate, or to ask for a rewrite.
By respecting these guidelines, you’ll make the work of our editors easier. And you’ll still have wide scope for glorifying His Divine Grace.
Thank you very much. Hare Krishna.
